Santos Futebol Clube is a Brazilian football club founded on April 14, 1912 and based in the city of Santos in the state of São Paulo. It was nicknamed Peixe (literally, "Fish") for decades, but the club's mascot is a whale. This nickname refers to the city of Santos which is a port, unlike the other major clubs in the state of São Paulo, which are more continental.
