After twenty years in prison, Don Diego de La Vega, alias Zorro, who once successfully fought Spanish oppression and is still pursued by the hatred of Governor Rafael Montero, is looking for a successor. He then meets a young bandit, Alejandro Murieta, who also has some scores to settle with the former governor. After extensive training, de La Vega gives his student Zorro's mask, sword and whip and sends him to foil Montero's sinister plot to seize California from Mexico.
